The Launceston business mix

Launceston is northern Tasmania's commercial hub. Its working buildings span professional services offices around the CBD, medical and allied-health precincts, childcare and education sites, aged care, retail, and a busy hospitality and tourism sector. Many of these operate from converted heritage stock — solid, characterful buildings that also trap moisture. Combined with Tasmania's cool, damp climate and the Tamar Valley's morning fogs, that creates real mould and indoor-air pressure, particularly through the cooler months when spaces stay closed up.

Conventional cleaning tends to answer that pressure with more product — stronger disinfectants, heavier fragrances, more airborne volatile compounds in already under-ventilated rooms. Our approach is the opposite: control moisture properly, reduce what you put into the air, and reserve TGA-listed disinfectants for the tasks that genuinely need them.

How we clean

We use four core methods, matched to each surface and risk level:

  • Electrolysed water (HOCl) made on site from water and a trace of salt. It cleans effectively and reverts to salt water. Our products are GECA-certified and TGA-listed for disinfection.
  • Stabilised aqueous ozone, which reverts to oxygen and water and leaves no residue.
  • Dry steam for low-moisture thermal decontamination — useful for grout, sanitary areas and detailed work without soaking already damp buildings.
  • Colour-coded microfibre with disciplined dwell times, so cross-contamination is designed out rather than sprayed over.

This lets us say, accurately, that we use no added synthetic chemicals and leave no hazardous residue. We do not claim to be chemical-free — water is a chemical, and we retain TGA-listed disinfectants for disinfection-critical work.

Which sites benefit most

Every site gains from cleaner indoor air, but the case is strongest where people are vulnerable or where ratings apply.

  • Offices — where staff spend long hours in enclosed, recirculated air. See office cleaning in Launceston.
  • Childcare and schools — children breathe faster and closer to surfaces. See childcare cleaning.
  • Medical and allied-health — where residue control and disciplined disinfection both matter. See medical cleaning.
  • Aged care, hospitality and retail — high-touch, high-occupancy, and sensitive to fragrance and residue.

The health and WHS case

The evidence on cleaning chemicals is hard to ignore. The ECRHS study (Svanes et al. 2018) found lung-function decline in cleaners comparable to around 20 pack-years of smoking. The AIHW attributes 9–15 per cent of adult-onset asthma to occupational exposure, and names cleaning as a high-risk occupation. Deloitte Access Economics puts the cost of asthma to Australian employers at $526.7 million a year.

Those costs land on the people doing the work and on the businesses that engage them. Reducing exposure at source protects cleaners, occupants and your obligations at once.

That matters more from 1 December 2026, when enforceable Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs) replace the current WES across roughly 700 reviewed chemicals. Under the WHS hierarchy of controls, elimination sits at the top — removing a hazardous substance beats managing it with ventilation or PPE. Switching to low-tox methods is elimination in practice, which puts you ahead of the change rather than scrambling to meet it.

Ratings and compliance

If your building pursues formal ratings, our methods help directly. GECA-certified products are deemed-to-satisfy for the Green Star Green Cleaning credit. WELL's Cleaning Products and Protocol feature targets hazardous-chemical reduction. NABERS Indoor Environment tests VOCs and formaldehyde — both areas where cutting synthetic product volume improves results. For Launceston's newer fit-outs and refurbished heritage tenancies alike, that is a straightforward path to better documented performance.

Pricing

We price at parity with conventional cleaning on standard scopes. A premium of 10–15 per cent applies only on health or rating-critical sites where extra protocol and documentation are involved. The walkthrough and quote are free, so you can compare like for like before committing.

Frequently asked questions

Is eco cleaning as effective as conventional cleaning?

Yes. We use GECA-certified, TGA-listed electrolysed water and other proven methods, and retain TGA-listed disinfectants for disinfection-critical tasks. The difference is that we leave no hazardous residue, not that we clean to a lower standard.

Does it cost more than my current cleaner?

On standard scopes we price at parity with conventional cleaning. A 10–15 per cent premium applies only on health or rating-critical sites that need additional protocol and documentation. The walkthrough and quote are free.

How does your approach help with mould in older Launceston buildings?

Tasmania's cool, damp climate and Launceston's heritage stock trap moisture. We use dry steam for low-moisture decontamination and disciplined dwell times, so we address contamination without adding excess water to already damp spaces.

Will switching help us meet the 2026 WHS changes?

It should. From 1 December 2026 enforceable Workplace Exposure Limits replace the current WES across around 700 chemicals. Under the WHS hierarchy of controls, eliminating hazardous substances ranks above managing them, and low-tox methods are elimination in practice.

Can you support Green Star, WELL or NABERS goals?

Yes. GECA-certified products are deemed-to-satisfy for the Green Star Green Cleaning credit, WELL's Cleaning Products and Protocol feature targets hazardous-chemical reduction, and reducing synthetic product volume supports NABERS Indoor Environment VOC and formaldehyde results.
