Eco School & Education Cleaning on the Central Coast
Central Coast schools, TAFEs and campuses run at high occupancy, with children, staff and cleaners sharing the same air for hours at a time. GreenClean cleans classrooms, halls and amenities without the sprays and quaternary ammonium compounds linked to occupational asthma, so decontamination does not come at the cost of the people breathing the room. We work across the region, from coastal campuses managing humidity and mould pressure to inland primary schools.

The health case comes first in a school
A classroom is one of the most sensitive indoor environments any cleaner will ever service. Children breathe faster than adults relative to body size, they spend hours in the same enclosed rooms, and rates of childhood asthma make chemical residue a genuine welfare issue rather than a preference. The evidence on cleaning products is now hard to ignore: the ECRHS study (Svanes et al. 2018) found lung-function decline in professional cleaners comparable to around 20 pack-years of smoking, and the AIHW attributes 9 to 15 per cent of adult-onset asthma to occupational exposure, with cleaning named as a high-risk occupation.
In a school, that exposure lands on two groups at once. Your cleaning staff carry the direct load, and the students and teachers inhabit whatever residue and airborne spray is left behind. Conventional trigger-spray disinfectants and quat-based products are a leading contributor. Removing them from the daily routine is the single clearest way to reduce that risk, and elimination sits at the very top of the WHS hierarchy of controls for good reason.
How we clean without the sprays and quats
Our programs are built on methods that decontaminate without leaving hazardous residue behind.
- Electrolysed water (HOCl) is generated on site from water and a trace of salt. It is a genuine cleaner and sanitiser that reverts to salt water, is GECA-certified and TGA-listed, and carries no lingering film across desks, door handles or shared surfaces.
- Stabilised aqueous ozone breaks down soils and odours, then reverts to oxygen and water — useful across halls, change rooms and high-traffic corridors.
- Dry steam delivers low-moisture thermal decontamination for amenities, grout and high-touch fittings, without saturating surfaces in humid coastal conditions where drying time matters.
- Colour-coded microfibre with disciplined dwell times keeps cross-contamination controlled between toilets, classrooms and food areas.
Where a task is disinfection-critical — an outbreak response, a sick-bay, a food-technology room — we retain TGA-listed disinfectants and use them deliberately. This is about eliminating unnecessary daily chemical load, not about pretending disinfection is never needed. We describe our approach as no added synthetic chemicals and no hazardous residue, because that is what is accurate.
Where ratings and compliance intersect
Many education facilities are pursuing or maintaining sustainability credentials. Our GECA-certified products are deemed-to-satisfy for the Green Star Green Cleaning credit, which removes a documentation burden for facilities teams. For newer or refurbished campus buildings, the WELL Cleaning Products and Protocol feature targets hazardous-chemical reduction, and NABERS Indoor Environment testing looks at VOCs and formaldehyde — all areas where a low-tox program supports the result rather than working against it.
There is also a regulatory horizon worth planning for. From 1 December 2026, enforceable Workplace Exposure Limits replace the current WES across roughly 700 reviewed chemicals. Schools that move to eliminate hazardous products now are simplifying their compliance position ahead of that change, rather than scrambling later.
What a Central Coast school program looks like
Every site is scoped individually, but a typical education program covers daily servicing of classrooms, staff rooms, amenities and high-touch points, with periodic deep cleans of halls, gymnasiums and shared spaces timed around the school calendar and holiday breaks. Colour-coded systems keep toilet, kitchen and general areas strictly separated. On coastal campuses we pay particular attention to humidity-driven mould pressure in change rooms, storerooms and poorly ventilated corners, using dry steam where it earns its place.
We deliver across the region through an accredited partner network, so cleaning staff are trained in the methods and the dwell-time discipline that makes them effective. You can see the wider service context on our Central Coast page and across our commercial cleaning services.
Pricing without a green premium on standard scopes
We price at parity with conventional cleaning on standard scopes. A +10 to 15 per cent adjustment only applies on health-critical or rating-critical sites where the specification genuinely demands more. There is no obligation attached to finding out, and the walkthrough and quote are free. If you also manage other sites, our office and workplace cleaning works on the same principles.

Frequently asked questions
Is eco cleaning actually effective enough for school toilets and sick-bays?
Yes. Electrolysed water is a TGA-listed sanitiser and, combined with correct dwell times, handles the large majority of daily tasks. For disinfection-critical areas such as sick-bays or during an outbreak, we retain TGA-listed disinfectants and apply them deliberately, so effectiveness is never compromised.
Will switching cost more than our current school cleaning contract?
On standard scopes we price at parity with conventional cleaning. A 10 to 15 per cent adjustment only applies where a site is health-critical or rating-critical and the specification demands more. The walkthrough and quote are free, so you can compare before committing.
Can this support our Green Star or NABERS rating?
Our GECA-certified products are deemed-to-satisfy for the Green Star Green Cleaning credit, which reduces your documentation load. Low-tox methods also support NABERS Indoor Environment outcomes on VOCs and formaldehyde, and align with the WELL Cleaning Products and Protocol feature.
Why does removing quats matter for a school specifically?
Quaternary ammonium compounds and trigger sprays are linked to occupational asthma, and children breathe faster and spend hours in enclosed classrooms. Removing them protects both your cleaning staff and the students and teachers who occupy the rooms afterward. Elimination is the top control in the WHS hierarchy.
How do you handle mould and humidity in coastal Central Coast campuses?
We use dry steam for low-moisture thermal decontamination in change rooms, storerooms and poorly ventilated areas where humidity drives mould pressure. This decontaminates without saturating surfaces, which matters when drying time is short in coastal conditions.
